Giving Bandon a Mulligan for the 2024 Western Golf Alliance Open

Event will return to a past location for the first time ever, heading back to Bandon Dunes

BOTHELL, Washington. Today, the Western Golf Alliance announced that, for the first time in history, the organization has selected to return to a past host location. The 2024 Western Golf Alliance Open will return to Bandon Dunes, Oregon, which also hosted to 2008 Open.

"In 2008, Bandon Dunes had three great courses, but now they have almost doubled in size, and even the off-resort activities in this region have matured," said Brian Gray, WGA president. "It was a clear and obvious choice for us to make our first repeat destination a location that can actually offer a completely new experience."

"Even while we were at Bandon Dunes in 2008, we discussed when we would return," explained Trever Esko, WGA competition committee chairman. "The fact they have five full courses, one more than we can even play during a 72 hole tournament, means this will be one of the biggest events in our history."

The Western Golf Alliance is known for holding its Open on elite, famous courses that represent the very best golf in the western United States. While the WGA does not make a final determination on which courses will be used for the Open at the same time it announces the destination, the competition committee has already been working with the Bandon Dunes Resort to secure tee times across four courses, with some 'exhibition' play on the remaining courses.

"You can say this is a repeat of a past location, but it's really more like the greatest movie sequel in history," said Gray. "We anticipate a truly great golf event, at what might be the best golf destination in the U.S."

The WGA expects the announcement of Bandon Dunes to spur interest in membership, and is prepared for such inquiries. All probationary members that join between now and January 2024 are eligible to quality for the Western Golf Alliance Open.
