The nature of The Directors' Choice seems to change on whim. However, this event remains one of the most entertaining events for the Western Golf Alliance.

This tournament is held only on odd-numbered years, to avoid the WGA Open. The venue is therefore decided by the Board of Directors during their annual winter meeting, in order to accomodate weather to match that schedule. It is the only event played on the WGA Tour Series that is scored as a GROSS score stroke play competition, making it attractive to the serious golfers in the club.

Tour Series Point Structure:

Champion = 150 points

Runner Up = 80 points

Third = 60 points

Fourth = 50 points

Fifth-Eighth = 30 points
